We Made A Demo

And it only took 9 months!

WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG?

Well, making a professional-sounding demo recording in a living room takes time. A lot of time. And coordination with some incredible talent. Check out some videos on our Instagram to see Jimmy recording with Charity FarrellJared & Zach Green (yes, we have actual twins playing our twin busboys), B. New Year, New Update!

Can you believe it? It’s 2017! And we’re still recording the demo! What the heck is taking so long?

We’ll tell you what

We’ve been working hard on getting the demo for the show sounding as awesome as possible. Since beginning in the middle of last year, we’ve had the pleasure of working with some incredible talent. Check out some videos on our Instagram to see Jimmy recording with Charity Farrell, Jared & Zach Green (yes, we have actual twins playing our twin busboys), Christian Magby, and Manasa Vedula. It Was A Thing!

Tune in Time came and went, and Jimmy won!

The Full rundown

It’s SHOWTIME!

The format of the show teams up 3 composers with 3 lyricists and nobody knows who’s on what team until being introduced onto the stage. Jimmy was matched with Derek P. Hassler on Team C. Throughout the show, each participant gets to showcase a number from a project they are working on… 1) for the exposure and 2) to make sure that if whatever they write in 20 minutes is awful, they can at least prove they’re not terrible in real life! Guest celebrity judges (this show featured Lee Wilkof, Darryl Winslow and Leah Hocking) rated against the following criteria:

  • Did the song make sense with the selected words? (more on this later)
  • Was the song in the right genre based on what the team landed on? (more on this later, too)
  • Was it ‘a thing‘? You know…like…was it a thing?

We’re Recording the Music!

Well… Jimmy is recording the music. But Harrison’s listening to the music once it’s been recorded!

Here’s the deal:

We’re in the process of putting together a recording of all the songs from the show.  Jimmy has already finished recording all the piano parts (check out some videos on our Instagram), so now we’re in the process of getting singers on board to record the vocals. Once we’ve gotten all the tracks together, …view the rest

We Went to Savannah

This past weekend was an amazing experience. On Friday night, we saw a group of amazing actors perform a staged reading of the show in it’s entirety. We’re still in awe from the experience. Having said that, the weekend actually started off a bit rough.

GETTING TO SAVANNAH

Harrison was supposed to fly out of Chicago on Wednesday night and spend the night on Jimmy’s couch in New York before sharing a flight to Savannah the next morning. However, nearly every flight into LaGuardia was cancelled due to the weather.  Luckily, Harrison secured a spot on the last flight for the night.  Unluckily, after two hours of sitting on the tarmac, the flight was cancelled (at least he got his money’s worth in terms of time on an airplane). Needless to say, Harrison was a changed man.

Meanwhile, Jimmy played ground support by …view the rest

SCAD is Performing Our Show!

THIS IS BIG. THIS IS VERY BIG.

With the help of the fantastic Kevin Wallace, we will be getting to see Lasagna Mañana on its feet at SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) in Savannah, GA one week from today!  That’s right folks, we’re going to Georgia.

Kevin and Jimmy met at SCAD while Jimmy was attending as a student. Kevin has been the music director at the college for almost 10 years with decades of theater experience behind him. Since it’s inception in 2012 …view the rest

We Made a Website

If there’s one thing that we’ve learned, it’s that you don’t exist unless you’re online. So here we are – online and in existence with a fully-functioning website complete with free restaurant-themed stock photos.

Since this is the first update that we’re posting, we thought it might make sense to take a minute to catch you up on what’s happened prior to our web-birth.

Major milestones:

2012 – Jimmy asks Harrison if he’d like to write a musical as a way to keep in touch. Admittedly, Harrison initially rolls his eyes at the idea. However, the more they joke about the world of Lasagna Mañana …view the rest
