THIS IS BIG. THIS IS VERY BIG.
With the help of the fantastic Kevin Wallace, we will be getting to see Lasagna Mañana on its feet at SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) in Savannah, GA one week from today! That’s right folks, we’re going to Georgia.
Kevin and Jimmy met at SCAD while Jimmy was attending as a student. Kevin has been the music director at the college for almost 10 years with decades of theater experience behind him. Since it’s inception in 2012, Jimmy’s kept Kevin thoroughly up-to-date with the happenings of Lasagna Mañana. From the very beginning, Kevin expressed a desire to get involved and allow the students of SCAD to experience the growth of a new musical.
Needless to say, we can’t wait to see our baby begin to crawl (and hopefully start walking soon). The team at SCAD has been working tirelessly for the past month preparing the material. To be clear, this is the first time that actors (other than Jimmy) have learned the music–which means it’s the first time that the harmonies will truly be heard.
Here are the details:
The plan (as of this moment) is to use this performance as a tool to refine the show to a place where we will be able to shop it around to various producers and theaters in New York and Chicago (or anywhere, really. Let’s do business!). We intend to record the performance so that the audio can be used as an example of what the music sounds like and give a general sense of the show’s feel.
We will continue to post updates as we have them. Exciting stuff!
